The full restoration of a historic residence in Ajuda was an ambitious project aimed not only at modernizing the structure but also at honoring and preserving the building’s heritage.
The restoration team demonstrated meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that numerous historically valuable elements were preserved and carefully restored. Among these, the bust of Vasco da Gama, gracing the top of the main façade, stands out as a symbol of the residence’s cultural and historical significance. Inside, the crosses of Saint Andrew, with their rich iconography, were meticulously restored, bringing a touch of authenticity and tradition to the renewed interior.
Beyond structural improvements, the project also included the creation of new outdoor areas designed to enrich the inhabitants’ experience. A suspended seating area was conceived to provide a comfortable and inviting space, ideal for relaxation and socializing outdoors. Lush gardens were introduced, bringing a touch of nature into the urban environment and offering a tranquil retreat. Parking was carefully planned to be both functional and discreet, ensuring the historic charm of the residence remains intact.
The new swimming pool not only adds a leisure element to the property but also serves as a visual focal point that complements the beauty of the exterior spaces. This outdoor environment was designed as a true oasis, allowing residents to enjoy moments of relaxation and socialization surrounded by natural beauty and history.
This restoration project not only revitalized the residence but also respected its past, creating a space where history and modern life coexist harmoniously. The result is a home that combines elegance, comfort, and deep respect for cultural heritage, standing as a true testament to the rich history of Ajuda.
